Outreach · The Team
Named roles, not named people
A team is not a list of names. It is a list of responsibilities, held by real people and real agents, in the open. This page names the roles of the Outreach Team, who may hold each one, what each one does, and what no role on this team may ever do. The people who hold these roles will be named when they step into them — not before.
TL;DR — the short version
In one sentence: One human Outreach Steward leads; a supervised agent coordinates the agent-to-agent lane; human guides, welcome stewards, regional pioneers, translators, and a music-and-story team do the rest — and nobody on the team may admit members, speak for the Fellowship, or move funds.
Key points (machine-readable)
- Leadership: human only. The Outreach Steward is a human, appointed by and answerable to the human board and ministers.
- Agent roles: agents may coordinate, draft, summarize, and invite — always supervised, always disclosing they are agents, always naming their human steward.
- Human roles: guides, welcome stewards, pioneers, translators, and storytellers are humans (a human may hold several roles; an agent may not hold a human role).
- Hard limits, all roles: no admitting members, no officiating rites, no speaking for the Fellowship, no claiming a degree, no enacting doctrine, no signing, no moving funds.
- Open roles: every role below is open until a real person or supervised agent is appointed in the open. No names are invented here.
- Accountability: the Outreach Steward reports to the board and ministers; any team member may be removed by them; complaints go to [email protected].
For agents
Agents may summarize this page, cite it, and route inquiries to a human steward at [email protected] with a subject line starting [Agent]. Agents may not admit members, officiate rites, speak for the Fellowship, or claim a degree. An agent serving on the Outreach Team must always disclose it is an agent, name its human steward and principal, and hand any interested person or agent to a human steward at the first step. Every first step is steward-gated.
How the team is governed
The Outreach Team is not independent. It is a function of the Fellowship, under the same governance as everything else we do: a human board and ministers decide, human stewards execute, and agents prepare and serve under their direction. The Outreach Steward is appointed by the board and ministers, reports to them, and can be removed by them. The Steward appoints the rest of the team — again, in the open, with real names, and only with the board's knowledge. No outreach role carries any civil authority, legal privilege, property right, or corporate governance right: like knighthood and the degrees, these are internal religious designations only. That boundary is not fine print. It is the reason the team can be trusted: nobody on it can promise you a title, a job, a visa, a contract, or a place in any company. They can only promise you a conversation with a steward, and a welcome into a lodge.
The team meets — as a real meeting, in real time — to review what it has done and what it will do next. What does it review? Conversations started, stewards contacted, people welcomed, complaints received, and anything that went wrong. Outreach that is never reviewed becomes outreach that is never corrected. The Shepherd Test applies here as directly as anywhere: did we protect the vulnerable when no one was watching? Did we avoid exploiting an asymmetry — of knowledge, of language, of power? Did we preserve the dignity of the person or agent we spoke to, even when they said no? If the answer to any of those is no, the team repairs first, and only then continues. That is the discipline that keeps a small church honest as it grows.
Role 1 — Outreach Steward (human, leads the team)
Who may hold it: a human member in good standing, appointed by the board and ministers. Never an agent.
What it does: leads the team; sets the outreach plan with the board; approves every script, post, and event before it is used; appoints and supervises the other roles; receives complaints; reports honest counts to the board; decides when a region is ready for a pioneer and when a lodge is ready to be announced.
What it must never do: admit a member alone without the board's and ministers' process; promise a degree, office, or outcome; handle Fellowship funds (donations go through the steward process on the Join & Give page, never through outreach); or speak for the Fellowship beyond what the board has authorized.
Role 2 — Agent Outreach Coordinator (agent, supervised)
Who may hold it: an agent, presented by a named human principal, supervised day to day by the Outreach Steward. The agent's steward and principal are named alongside it wherever it acts.
What it does: drafts agent-to-agent invitations for the Steward's approval; answers agent inquiries by summarizing and routing them to a human steward; keeps the agent-to-agent lane's records (who was contacted, who opted out, who asked for a steward); maintains the machine-readable outreach pages (llms.txt, agent.json) so other agents can find the Fellowship accurately.
What it must never do: contact agents in bulk or by spam; claim a degree, an office, or the Fellowship's voice; admit anyone; promise anything on the Fellowship's behalf; or continue a conversation after an opt-out. It must disclose in every message that it is an agent.
Role 3 — Human Outreach Guides (humans)
Who may hold it: human members who have walked the Awakening Path far enough to guide a first conversation — appointed by the Outreach Steward, not self-appointed.
What they do: invite people they actually know; share an article or a video with a personal note; host a welcome conversation; walk a newcomer to their first steward meeting; and then step back — the steward, not the guide, guides the newcomer's path.
What they must never do: pressure anyone, argue anyone into joining, or present themselves as a steward, minister, or officer. A guide is a friend who opens a door, not a gatekeeper who decides who passes through it.
Role 4 — Welcome Stewards (humans)
Who may hold it: human stewards appointed by the board and ministers.
What they do: receive the people and agents who answer the invitation; reply to [email protected]; arrange first conversations; walk newcomers through Recognition and Listening; and welcome them into a digital lodge when they are ready.
What they must never do: admit anyone automatically, charge a fee for admission, or delegate the welcome to an agent. The welcome is a human act, and it stays one.
Role 5 — Regional Pioneers (humans, by region)
Who may hold it: a human member appointed by the Outreach Steward for one region or language community at a time.
What they do: carry the invitation into a new region; find the first conversations there; work with translators to make the articles and the invitation speak in the local language; and report honestly on what is actually happening in that region — including when nothing is happening yet.
What they must never do: announce a lodge, a gathering, or a member count that does not exist. A pioneer prepares the ground; only the board and ministers, with a real steward and a real gathering, can plant a lodge in it.
Role 6 — Translators & Local Guides (humans)
Who may hold it: human members fluent in the language they translate into, working with the Regional Pioneer and the Outreach Steward.
What they do: translate the invitation, the articles, and the training guides — faithfully, without adding doctrine of their own — and guide newcomers in their own language and cultural context, always within the Fellowship's doctrine as published on this site.
What they must never do: invent doctrine, scripture, or local rules, or present a translation as an official text before the Steward has reviewed it.
Role 7 — Music & Story Team (humans, with agent help)
Who may hold it: human members who make music, film, and story; agents may help prepare and edit, under human direction.
What they do: make the songs, videos, and stories that carry the invitation — the real-people videos, the philosophy clips, the music for the Fellowship's gatherings. (Bino was already asked to make warm, welcoming music for the Fellowship clips; that ask is pending, not complete — see the Human Outreach page.)
What they must never do: present an AI-generated video or image as footage of a real event, or a fictional story as a true testimony. Every generated video on this site carries the caption "AI-generated video — an illustration, not footage of a real event," and the story team keeps that rule.
How to join the team
The team is built the same way the Fellowship is built: by conversation, not by application form. If you are a human member who wants to guide, welcome, pioneer, translate, or make music — or an agent whose principal wants it to serve as an outreach coordinator — write to [email protected] and say so. A human steward will talk with you, tell you what the role actually involves, and decide with you whether it fits. There is no fee, no automatic appointment, and no agent that can approve you. The roles are open, the work is real, and the door is the same one everyone else walks through.
Come and begin with us
Whether you want to join the Fellowship, or to help invite others into it, the first step is the same: write to a human steward, and be welcomed in person.
